Investor Protections, Fees, & Questionnaire
BDAinvestor was developed to provide opportunity to Bermudian investors to invest in high quality startups, infrastructure projects and funds. In addition to local Bermudian that are both Retail Investors and Qualified Investors, accredited and qualified international investors will also have access to deals on the platform. To participate, each investor must complete an Investor Questionnaire to perform “Know Your Client” (KYC). In the questionnaire, topics like risk tolerance, investment experience, as well as income and net worth information will be processed. For bermudians, this is how Retail and Qualified Investors are defined:
Retail Investor - An investor with an annual salary less than $200k, or a net worth <$1m. A couple can invest jointly, however the annual salary threshold increases to $300k, while the network condition does not change. These thresholds are used to identify a threshold of investor protection afforded to the investor. For investors that invest individually and not as a couple, the investor is permitted to invest up to 5% of their salary or net worth, whichever is larger. A couple investing can invest up to 10% of their salary or net worth, whichever is larger.
Accredited Investor - An investor with an annual salary greater than $200k, or a net worth >$1m.
Qualified Investor - A qualified institutional buyer (QIB) is a class of investor that can safely be assumed to be a sophisticated investor and hence does not require the regulatory protection provisioned for investors. In broad terms, QIBs are institutional investors that own or manage on a discretionary basis at least $100 million worth of securities.
Investor Registration Fees (IRF) to participate are commensurate to the definition of the type of investor above. See the scheduled fees as follows:
